Scientific Publishing Policy

  1. Research and studies shall be within the framework of the legal and judicial studies of interest to the Institute, which are of practical nature, as well as the comments on the legal provisions, provided being characterized by depth and wealth of knowledge.
  2. Adherence to the principles of scientific research and its general rules, subject to accurate scientific documentation.
  3. Researches shall be presented in printed form in two copies, free of typos, attaching an electronic/soft copy thereof.
  4. Researches shall be free from grammatical and syntactic errors, taking into account the numbering accepted in the Arabic style, setting the vocalization of words, where the reviewers review, edit and amend the language in a manner that shall not prejudice the content of the research-.
  5. Researches shall not be parts of any scientific thesis or parts of books that had been previously published in any way or were sent for publication by any entity other than the Institute. The researcher shall submit a written and signed acknowledgment with the same.
  6. The researcher is obliged not to send his research to any other entity for publication until he Institute’s response regarding the validity of publication is received.
  7. The researcher shall attach a document to his research briefing his scientific history and his detailed address and phone number, e-mail, and fax.
  8. Footnotes shall be given in the following order:
  9. Books: author, title of the book (publishing house, place of publication, year of publication) and page number.
  10. Periodicals: author, research title, periodical/journal name, issue number (place of publication and year of publication) and page number.
  11. Researches submitted to the Institute are subject to evaluation and arbitration by specialists to determine its authenticity, novelty, value and integrity of the way they are presented; hence their suitability for publication.
  12. Researchers are obliged to undertake the arbitrators' amendments to their researches according to the reports sent to them, providing the Institute with the modified version.
  13. Publication priority shall be for researches related to legal and judicial analyses of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the date the research reaches the editorial board.
  14. Each researcher shall be given fifty copies of the series containing the content of his research.
  15. The Institute grants a monetary reward for researches determined to be suitable for publication and shall be published by the Institute.
  16. Researches and studies published in the Institute's magazine become a property of Dubai Judicial Institute and the researcher shall not be entitled to republish them elsewhere, without obtaining the written approval of the Institute.
  17. The Institute is entitled to translate the research or parts thereof, in a manner that shall not prejudice the content of the research, as required and without prejudice to the content of the scientific matter.

Publishing Policy & Proceedures

  1. Research and studies shall be sent to the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. Researchers shall be notified of the receipt of their researches within two weeks from the date of receipt.
  3. All researches and studies sent for publication are subject to initial evaluation by a technical committee consisting of teaching members in the Institute, in addition to a number of legal and professional persons, with research experience and distinguished scientific standing. Such committee shall be formed by the Director General.
  4. Researches that pass the initial evaluation stage shall be sent to at least two arbitrators specialized in the field of research after being approved by the editorial board. The Chief Editor shall select a third arbitrator in case the research is rejected by one of the arbitrators, provided that arbitration shall be held within four weeks from the date of sending the research for arbitration.

  6. In cases of any comments by the arbitrators, the notes shall be sent to the researcher to make the necessary amendments, provided that they are returned within a maximum period of one month.
  7. In all cases, the researchers shall be notified of the decision issued regarding their suitability for publication.
  8. Research originals that reach the Institute shall not be returned, whether they are published or not.

Elements of evaluating the work referred to scientific review:

  1. Originality of the topic of the book (in terms of novelty or modernity).
  2. Methodology of the book and its compatibility with the established principles.
  3. Book's contribution in the field of specialization.
  4. Book style and integrity of its language.
  5. Integrity of the scientific material in the book (including addressing the elements of the book objectively; the integrity and ability of the author to discuss and conclude; consistency of the book title and content).
  6. Sources (in terms of modernity and relevance to the topic).
  7. Footnotes (in terms of adherence to the approved scientific methods).
  8. Based on the above, please place the mark [√] for the book evaluation.

Instructions on the rewards for publishing scientific research and literature:

In application of Article 13.14 of Section IV (Rewards for the publication of scientific research and literature) mentioned in the financial regulations of the Institute, issued by the Board of Directors, the Institute’s Board of Directors has established the following rules: The author of the work is entitled to a financial reward ranging between (ten thousand to twenty thousand dirhams) estimated according to the following classification:

1) Rewards for the books that contain a full course:

Reinforced by practical nature, especially the use of the latest rulings of the UAE judiciary and their analysis, in addition to extracting the legal rules thereof. The reward shall be estimated at twenty thousand dirhams per book.

2) Reward for legal and judicial research and studies, estimated as follows:

  • 15 thousand dirhams for each research, provided that it shall not be less than (10) sections. (Section of 16 pages) = (160 pages).
  • 13 thousand dirhams for each research, provided that it shall not be less than (8) sections. (Section of 16 pages) = (128 pages).
  • 10 thousand dirhams for each research provided that it shall not be less than (6) sections. (Section of 16 pages) = (96 pages).

3) Reward for legal and judicial researches of less than 6 sections; Shall be published in the court scientific journal, provided that it shall be not less than three sections. The reward is estimated at 3000 (three thousand Kuwaiti Dirhams).

4) Reward of the language proofreader: (1000 dirhams for editing each book).
(500 dirhams for editing each search).

5) Scientific Review award:

1000 (one thousand dirhams) for each book arbitration.
500 (five hundred dirhams) for each arbitrator for the arbitration of each research or study.
